Anti-rape campaign

University of Westminster 2021

For my authorship module in university, we had to question ourselves about what type of designer we are and what our values are as a designer. As a young upcoming designer, I was always passionate about the feminist movement and knew I wanted to create an outcome that solves an issue for women and improves women’s rights.

My project for the module is a campaign called Anti-rape. In this campaign, I designed a poster to encourage females to speak up and report to the government. Based on research over 54% of women are raped in comparison to men. This percentage will continue to increase if no action is taken. So as a feminist designer, I designed the poster that has images of anti-rape protests in a collage that forms the feminist symbol to remind the victims that they aren’t alone.

The aim of the campaign is to get more victims to report so it can get the government’s attention, as currently the government is not preventing this problem or taking any action. My role as a designer was to create a meaningful poster to spread awareness about this issue that is unresolved. The poster is printed and exhibited on the streets and underground stations to gain attraction from the victims. The poster was designed using Photoshop and Procreate.
