Work: Experiments, Editorial design
A typographic study between two typefaces that are a serif typeface called Garamond and a san serif typeface called Calibri. I produced two separate publications to experiment with each typeface. In order to create meaningful experiments, I used text from Erik Spiekermann’s speech called ‘Type build character’ and copied and pasted the text and explored the characteristics of both typefaces. In both publications I experimented with the typefaces by exploring weight, size, leading, kerning, tracking and text hierarchy.
The purpose of the study of both typefaces was to expand my typographic skills using InDesign software. This project offered me the opportunity to experiment with the characteristics of these typefaces and learn about ‘macro-typography’ and ‘micro-typography’.
